HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

And here's Beeble in his Batman costume. :)

Do you like pie?

Yep, that's right. Michele and I got bored and made pie a couple weeks ago. And for you non-believers, here it is:
See? PIE. Of the apple variety. Go us and our respective leftover, squishy stash of apples :)

But wait, there's more...

Two huge bobbins of yarn have reached the plying stage. I filled one bobbin completely and will hopefully finish the second one before dinner. There's a whole bunch of Halloween/ghosty shows saved on the computer, so maybe I can get through most of 'em.

Then there's the matter of the '61 Studebaker sitting in the garage. NAKED. As in no paint left. Here's what the hood looks like without 45 yr. old paint and primer on it:
Shiny! And totally NOT rusted. Bonus. Now we just need somebody brave enough to come weld a few pieces for us and it can get a coat of primer on it. Any takers?

Socktober Fest

No, seriously. There is such a thing. It's for those of us who knit entirely too much. Check it out!

Socktober Fest 2006 Questionnaire
Q: When did you start making socks?
A: About 4 years ago.

Q:Did you teach yourself or were you taught by a friend or relative? or in a class?
A: Pieced it together from various websites... the old Glampyre sock tutorial, Knitty, other things I found on Google.

Q:What was your first pair?
A: Self-striping socks (purple-blue-black-white) cuz self-striping yarn had just started showing up at the craft stores then.

Q:How have they "held up" over time?
A: Very well because my mom refuses to wear them... haha. I guess you could say they're permanently preserved because she just takes them out once in a while to look at them.

Q:What would you have done differently?
A: I would have frogged parts that I messed up on. I totally didn't because I was trying to get them done for Christmas.

Q: What yarns have you particularly enjoyed?
A: Hand-dyed yarn off of Etsy has worked out very well. Cheaper and nicer colors. Me likey superwash sock wool.

Q:Do you like to crochet your socks?
A: Hell no. Crochet is evil. Just ask my mother-in-law ;)

Q:Which kind of heel do you prefer? (flap? or short-row?)
A: Heel flaps! I did short rows on my very first pair o' socks and it was so frustrating. I try really hard to avoid short rows now.

Q:How many pairs have you made?
A: Probably only like 6 pairs because I have the attention span of a fruit fly when it comes to knitting these days. Handmade socks are great, but Second Sock Syndrome always seems to rear its ugly head for me... thankfully there are no orphan socks at my house, though.
